Increase Traffic to Your Website: 10 Completely Different Strategies

By:     Topics: Get Web Traffic     More posts about: ,

As a website owner, you are always looking for new and better ways to increase traffic to your website, and today’s article will help you with that. With over 50 million visitors to our websites, we know a lot about increasing search engine rankings and using email marketing to attract visitors – having said that, marketing your website is a lot more those just these two methods. So, if you are interested in learning our secrets to getting lots of website traffic, get ready because we are about to reveal them.

The one essential thing you need to get website traffic

Before you can promote your website, you need something for users and readers to come and visit. One of the biggest mistakes website owners make is focusing on driving traffic more than creating great content. It is 100x times easier to promote websites with unique, exciting content and useful tools than websites that don’t have great content.

I will begin by explaining how to create great content, tools, and resources for your website. Then, I will explain how to take advantage of the ten best traffic sources for your website:

Creating increadible content that will attract website visitors

The most essential factor in attracting traffic to your website is creating great content that is easy to understand and beneficial to the reader. Having a few articles that bring in a lot of traffic is better than having multiple articles that bring in less traffic. To create great content, make it as easy to understand and beneficial as possible.

Here are my top tips for creating great content:

Discovering keywords you want to rank for: Keyword research is crucial for creating content that people are searching for, and that can be easily discovered on search engines. SEMRush is a great tool for finding keywords that have high search volume but are not too competitive. By analyzing traffic and backlinks, SEMRush helps identify multiple keywords that a blog post can rank for, increasing its visibility and reach.

Writing headlines for your article: To sell people on your article, write a headline that attracts them to your blog post. Include what they will learn, its benefits, and why they should learn it from you. For instance, “10 Headline Examples That Got Us 10 Million Readers” teaches the best headlines for traffic, while “18 Website Optimization Tips for More Traffic and Higher Conversions” offers tips for website optimization.

Write top-list articles: Creating a top-list article based on relevant keywords can effectively engage readers. Top-list articles are popular because they provide a clear structure and allow readers to skim the content quickly. To enhance the article’s credibility and reach, it’s recommended to link to other websites and include relevant influencers in the list. The more links a website has to point to it, the higher it ranks in Google, making it a win-win situation for both parties.

How your articles should look visually: To make your blog post visually appealing, optimize its readability and proofread it carefully. Using images and breaking up the content with paragraphs and headlines can make it easier for readers to quickly skim the article and decide if it’s worth their time. These elements are necessary for readers to be more likely to invest their time in reading a long, daunting article.

We have added about 500 articles to our blogs, about half of which we bought. We buy articles because they save us time, and the return on investment makes them worth it. Each article gets social media shares and backlinks, increasing our search engine rankings. If you want a low-cost content-writing service, we recommend FatJoe. Alternatively, you could consider using ContentShake AI which allows you to automatically create amazing content – it’s no surprise then that it’s our favourite AI content creation tool.

The Best Ten Ways To Promote Your Blog

How to increase website traffic

1. Social Media Marketing

Social media is one of the most effective ways to drive website traffic. Sharing an article on platforms like Twitter and Facebook can lead to many people visiting the website. If the article is of high quality, it is likely to be shared further by people who find it useful.

Social media shares also play a vital role in determining a web page’s search engine ranking. Automating and scheduling social media posts is essential to achieve more likes and shares. SEMrush Social is an excellent tool for businesses to automate and schedule social media posts, which can help increase website traffic and links. By using SEMrush Social, businesses can streamline their social media activities and achieve better results.

Building strong social media accounts is essential for better traffic, but it doesn’t require a lot of effort. If the content is great, readers will share it. However, if used consistently, social media platforms can be a great traffic source.

When IncomeDiary was launched, Twitter was a new and upcoming platform. It was a hot topic, and everyone was jumping on board. Since the make money online niche wasn’t yet saturated, Twitter became a great source of traffic. By following thousands of users a day, it was easy to get thousands of people to visit the profile, follow back, click the profile link, and view the updates.

Pinterest was another platform that was used in the same way to drive traffic to the website.

In business, acting quickly can lead to great success. Waiting to see how things work out can lead to missed opportunities. Some bloggers may have thought Twitter was not going to last, so they decided to join later, missing out on the benefits.

2. Email Marketing

Email marketing is an effective method to drive website traffic. Thousands of people can instantly visit your site by emailing subscribers about new posts. This can result in social media shares and backlinks to your blog, improving your search engine optimization.

Email marketing is a crucial component of the success of any post. However, getting email subscribers can be challenging, especially if your blog is new. To address this issue, you can check out our ultimate guide to email marketing. With a solid email marketing strategy, you can increase website traffic and ultimately achieve better results. So, start building your email list today and watch your website traffic grow.

Don’t delay building an email list: Email marketing is a great way to get visitors to return to your website, which is why encouraging readers to subscribe and receive exclusive content is so important. Marketers and bloggers always tell me that they wish they started building their website list soon and that it’s consistently the best way to make money from their site.

3. Search engine optimization

We have already written about search engine optimization at length in this article. To sum up our best advice:

How To Optimize Your Blog Post For a Keyword

Go and download a free WordPress plugin called Yoast SEO. This plugin will ask you what search term you want your blog post to rank for and tell you everything you need to do to optimize it for that keyword.

Such as:

  • Including the keyword in the headline
  • Have a short page slug that includes your keyword (e.g. if the article is about 50 Best Business Quotes, then call the URL business-quotes).
  • Including the keyword in the meta description
  • Including the keyword in the first paragraph of the post
  • Including internal and external links
  • Including an image with the name of your keyword
  • Add alt attributes with the focus keyword to your images.
  • Mentioning the keyword enough times
  • Have a table of contents.
  • Make sure your articles are not competing against any other pages on your website; for example, if it’s about business quotes, then make sure no category, tag, or page has the words business quotes in it.

How To Optimize Your Website For Search Engines

It’s crucial to understand that a significant factor in Google’s ranking algorithm is the quality of your website. The better Google perceives your website, the higher your blog post will be in its search engine.

Google wants to link to up-to-date, user-friendly, trustworthy and popular websites.

Here is a list of ways to achieve this:

  • Reduce bounce rate (make your website so great that visitors stay for ages and visit many pages).
  • Have a contact page with the address and phone number.
  • Get HTTPS in your website URL
  • Add a sitemap to your website.
  • Always fix broken links.
  • Improve your page speed (it should take about 1 second to load the site)
  • Make sure you have no duplicated content.
  • Run a free website audit on SEMrush to identify any SEO errors.

While optimizing your blog posts is essential, it’s equally crucial to remember that high-quality content is the key. No matter how much you optimize, if your content isn’t compelling, it won’t attract links and won’t rank well in Google.

4. Press Releases

Press releases can be a great way to get traffic and backlinks, but many believe it takes a public relations expert to run a successful press release. However, this is not true, and a press release can be written and distributed to thousands of news sites and publications without much work. The best thing about press releases is that they provide high-quality backlinks and expose your business to readers. Big websites like the New York Times and USA Today can even pick up your press release, giving you a valuable backlink and tons of free traffic. However, creating high-quality content to get on one of those sites is essential.

Manually submitting a press release to all these news sites can be daunting. Fortunately, distribution services like FatJoe can write and submit your press releases for you. FatJoe has a solid track record and comes highly recommended by most search engine optimizers, making it a great option for hassle-free press release distribution.

What works best with press releases: If you want your article mentioned by the press, it must be newsworthy and interesting. The articles that get the most traffic for us are consistently on our top lists, such as the websites that make the most money and the most valuable tech companies. Write interesting and unique articles in a list format, then submit press releases about them.

5. Guest Blogging

Guest blogging is a highly effective way to build backlinks and increase website traffic. Despite the myth that it is no longer relevant, guest blogging is still a valuable tool. It has helped some websites rank #1 for their primary keywords. If you’re looking to pass up on great backlinks, you can believe guest blogging is dead.

To make the most of guest blogging, providing value to your readers is essential. One of the most effective ways to do this is through writing how-to guides. These guides offer actionable advice and help readers solve problems.

Quote posts are another way to provide value to your audience. Choose a topic that interests them and cite influencers in that field. People love reading quotes as they inspire and motivate action.

Checklists are useful tools for sharing key points with readers and making it easier for them to take action. Lists are also popular among readers as they feature useful information or resources. Infographics are a great way to present data and facts visually, making them easier for readers to understand.

Overall, guest blogging is an excellent way to build links and drive traffic to your website. By providing valuable content to your readers, you can establish yourself as an expert in your field and attract a broader audience to your site.

Bonus tip: Buy articles to submit as guest posts or use AI content creation tools to create them for you. This will save you a lot of time to focus on other areas of your business.

6. Buying Advertising

If you have something to sell, online advertising can be a great way to drive traffic to your website. However, it’s important to remember that advertising only works if you have a product or service that people actually want to buy. So, before you start spending money on ads, ensure you clearly understand your target audience and their needs.

Conversions are among the most important aspects of online advertising. You want to ensure that the people who click on your ads actually take some kind of action, whether making a purchase or filling out a contact form. The higher your conversion rate, the more money you’ll make, which means you can spend more on advertising.

When it comes to choosing the right platform for your online advertising, you’re spoilt for choice. Popular options like Google, Facebook, and Instagram offer a range of ad formats and targeting options to suit different business needs. It’s worth noting that many of these platforms provide free advertising credits to encourage new advertisers, making it a cost-effective way to start advertising.

Bonus tip: We once advertised on a very similar website to ours, and our highest converting advertising (5x higher) was a banner that said: “Don’t click here”.

7. Holding Contests

Holding contests on your website is a fantastic way to drive traffic to your website. Not only do contests increase engagement with your brand, but they also encourage participants to share the contest with their social following. By sharing the contest on social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, participants can drive traffic to your website and increase your brand’s reach. Additionally, contests can help build your email list, as participants may need to provide their email addresses to enter.

There are a variety of contests you could hold on your website. Some popular options include photo contests, trivia contests, and giveaways. Photo contests are particularly effective for driving traffic, as participants will often share their contest entries on their social media channels, which can increase your brand’s awareness. Trivia contests can encourage participants to engage with your brand and learn more about your products or services. Giveaways are another popular option, as they give participants a chance to win a prize in exchange for entering their email address or completing another action on your website.

Contests are not just about driving traffic to your website. They can also play a significant role in building customer loyalty. By encouraging engagement with your brand, contests can increase the likelihood of customers returning to your website in the future. Moreover, contests can help improve your website’s SEO. When participants share links to your contest on their own websites or social media channels, this can lead to backlinks to your website, which can help improve your search engine rankings.

8. Push Notifications

Having many website visitors is excellent, but the real challenge is keeping them coming back repeatedly. The best way to do this is by providing a great user experience, but other tactics can also help. Push notifications, for example, can be a powerful way to bring visitors back to your website.

Push notifications are messages sent directly to a user’s device, even when not using your website. They can promote new content or features on your site, remind users to complete an action they started or keep them engaged with your brand. By using push notifications in this way, you can stay top-of-mind for your users and keep them coming back to your site.

One of the biggest advantages of push notifications is their high visibility. Unlike email or social media notifications, push notifications are delivered directly to a user’s device screen, making them hard to ignore. This powerful feature ensures that even if a user is busy with other things, they’re still likely to see your message and be reminded of your website, boosting your user engagement significantly.

If you are looking for push notification software, the most popular are OneSignal and GetBeamer

Push Notifications To Get More Website Traffic

9. Get Interviewed

Getting interviewed is a brilliant way to drive traffic to your website. One of the most significant advantages is that it can increase your search engine rankings by providing high-quality backlinks. The return on investment of your time is one of the most valuable ways to drive traffic to your website. Interviews are a highly efficient way to achieve this. You can reach a large audience in a relatively short amount of time. And the best part is that the interview will continue to drive traffic to your website long after publication.

Another great benefit of interviews is that they are one of the highest-converting traffic sources. This is because you get a chance to talk all about yourself, your brand, and your business. It helps you showcase your expertise and build trust with your audience. People who are interested in what you say are more likely to visit your website and become customers.

Moreover, you get a chance in interviews to mention several pages on your website, which again gets you more links to pages you are trying to get to rank high in Google. By linking to different pages on your website, you can drive traffic to specific pages that you want to rank higher in search results. This can significantly boost your SEO efforts.

10. Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is one of the most effective ways to drive traffic to your website. However, to have an affiliate program, you must have a product to sell; otherwise, why would someone send you traffic in the first place?

The beauty of affiliate marketing is that you only pay for the traffic that converts into sales. This means that if someone clicks on your affiliate link and doesn’t buy anything, you don’t have to pay them anything. This makes affiliate marketing a very cost-effective way to get traffic to your website.

Adding an affiliate program to your website is easier than you think. With tools like Samcart, you can easily set up an affiliate program and recruit affiliates to promote your products. You can set up commission rates, track sales, and even provide your affiliates with marketing materials to use.

The best part about having an affiliate program is that it can make you more money. By having affiliates promote your products, you are reaching a wider audience than you could on your own. And since you only pay for traffic that converts into sales, you are guaranteed a return on your investment.

Getting People On Your Blog To Read Your New Posts

This is also an important step in your blog promotion. One of the easiest way to keep website traffic high, is to keep people visiting page after page and coming back to your website. A few ways you can do this:

  • Add a link to your top navigation bar. If people enjoy your content, they will want to look for more.
  • Add a link to the top of your sidebar.
  • Make sure the post is featured on the home and category pages.
  • Make sure the post is featured in related/popular posts.

Ask Friends to Comment and Share (read why)

When I first started blogging, I would often ask friends in the industry to comment and share my posts. Most of them didn’t have any traffic, but that wasn’t important.

What was important, was if I was getting lots of comments and shares, other people coming to the site would be a lot more likely to comment and share.

Remember, it’s about momentum.

The Last Word: Getting Website Traffic is a Marathon, Not a Sprint.

People get excited at the beginning.

They are writing blog posts left, right, and center. But then after a few months, they haven’t made any money and they just give up. That’s why people fail.

Even if you’re doing everything right, it’s unrealistic to expect to have a ton of traffic and income right away. Building large amounts of traffic takes time!

    Great Post!

I’m using just a few of these strategies and have hit ~250 visits/day the past few days, but on average it’s been at a steady 100.

    Thanks!

  2. I am like really having a problem to find forums, focussed on sportsmanagement.
I think my problem is dat the keyword ‘sports’ is so popular, that it overshadows everything.

Am I wrong?? Who has any tips for me?

  3. Note Taking Nerd #2 says

I loved your idea for using Yahoo Answers to drive traffic to your site!

One thing you could also do that would help down the road is take those questions you answer, and turn them into content for your blog or your email newsletter.

This kind of one-on-one dialogue REALLY focuses you on talking to one person which is how all writing in my opinion, should sound. Everyone reading your content online is doing so alone. They don’t want to be talked at.

When your writing takes on the tone of responding to friend in email, you’re on the right track.

Thank You So Much for all this awesome content here! I owe Glen over at viperchill dot com a big thanks for turning me onto this site!

  4. You’ve done it again! The same thought provoking pattern of bloging that makes my head gush out ideas that have been there for so long. This is another blog and I particularly like the idea of yahoo answers. I think I’ll incorporate that into my plan now. Thanks Michael!

  5. Patel Sridhar says

Nice Post there Michael, Although I have been a dumb audience on your site following your posts for quite a long time, this post forced me comment. Although I’m neither a hard core affiliate marketer nor an spammy autoblogger , I do have some plans to make money sometime as a parallel income to my job.
I saw one of your comments on your site saying “You should not blog under domain with your own name” was really an eye opener for me, hence immediately purchased a new domain.
Well Kudos! Keep up the great work.

  6. I know what you are talking about. Getting traffic is the most difficult part of IM, according to me followed by conversions. I have tried Yahoo Answers but I was using a different technique and I know now why it went wrong after reading this. 😀
I also want to try guest blogging but I didn’t know how many people would actually let a newbie write on their site. 😉
And Social Bookmarking is absolutely powerful. Especially, Digg can take you to page 1 of search engine ranking within a week.
Ultimately, i’d say the best way to get traffic is link bait, undoubtedly, hands down. Its like free backlinks for life. 😀

  7. thanx for recommending about google reader.well done michael

  8. BlogSetupPros.com says

@ Remco try googling “sports management” and clicking the option for forums on google. This should bring up all kinds of sports management related forums. @ Michael, another awesome post, there are a couple things on here I need to implement quickly!

  9. Blog the bank says

Great post Micheal I’ve had my website up for almost two months and I’ve only did half of these and I get a decent amount of traffic so I can vouch that they do work.

  10. As if you knew I needed this… Getting hundreds of consistent traffic to my site has been my most pressing concern. I didn’t know Yahoo Answers was this powerful. Most of what I’ve been into recently has been Twitter and Forums. This really helped. Thanks

  11. Mark Thompson says

One thing I will say about social bookmarking is that you should also be sharing other peoples content as well, not just your own.

If you are active and sharing other blog content, more people are likely to vote or share the content you are promoting, which will in turn help it get more exposure on these sites.

    Great post Michael.

  12. Great post Michael, I especially like the tip suggesting Squidoo. For every new site that I start I’ll always create a Squidoo lense or two around the topic. With a couple of links pointing towards each lense they do rank surprisingly well.

  13. Great post Michael, it’s something that I will implement into my new blog strategy of growth. Thanks again for sharing and thank you David 🙂

  14. Clipping Path says

Awesome post. Really Thanks for sharing… 🙂

  15. Mark Kelly says

Just curious why was ezinearticles crossed out do they no longer allow syndication of their material?

    • Kindledepot says

Ezinearticles was Google slapped due to the recent alogarythm change or so I heard, so their articles don’t rank as high as they used to due to them allowing spammy articles such as reverse phone lookup e.t.c to their article directory.

  16. Business Marketing with John Komatsoulis says

Thanks for this great post Michael, one question??

In order to adhere to the policies of Yahoo Answers, how would you recommend we promote our website on it?
Would you enter a link in the source box or in the actual answer?

  17. Kevin Doherty says

Thanks, I am adding Yahoo Answers to my list of strategies.. excited to see how this develops. All of the other ones listed definitely work well if you are persistent. Kevin

  18. Wow. What a great post. Thanks a lot for the insightful ideas. I am definitely going to make sure I implement all of them to bring traffic to my site.

  22. ZPTsotetsi says

Thanks Michael for another super post. I 100% agree. my favourite two on the list is Forum Posting and Blog Commenting right now. by doing the two, my websites have been getting great traffic. I was so amaized when I check my google analytics and webmaster tool. more than 30% of my traffic last month was from Income diary , Retire21.com and forums. right now, Even got links to my site from aniksingal.com,incomediary.com johnchow.com and selfgrowth.com by only commenting…Hehehehehehe.

  23. Love your posts …Always informative and to the point . Might try the Yahoo answers … It has been ages since I used that

  24. Great stuff. People often forget the basics. and the best part is a lot of this can (and should) be outsourced.

  25. Great post. I’ve been having a lot of success with Yahoo! answers. In my niche, people have so many questions, it makes sense that they look there for answers. Thanks for the advice.

  26. Excellent article! Thanks!!!

  27. Mark Washburn says

Great article on some terrific sources of traffic. I’ve dabbled in yahoo answers but I often forget to go back in there and check around. It’s a great, valid way to offer advice and build some traffic too. Thanks for the reminder!

  28. Mikel Erdman says

Great Article. I’m implementing comment posting right away to drive more traffic. I’m looking for US real estate and mortgage lending forums and communities. Any suggestions?

  29. Eric | Office In The Cloud says

Thanks Michael for another wake up call, I forgot the Squidoo lense.

I cannot thank you enough for recommending OptimizePress & DAP, it’s really awesome and I’m using it now on all my MemberShip sites

  30. Very well done. I like the Squidoo mention, I have urged readers to utilize Squidoo in a few of my posts. It’s a great place that people often overlook. You can’t beat totally free traffic and the platform is simple/intuitive.

I was surprised to see that you did not mention Youtube or other social media marketing resources for driving traffic as you have done many great videos that surely aid in bringing visitors here to incomediary.

All-in-all, a wonderful post, nice job.

  31. the best fashionblog says

    Hi Michael very nice post!

can you tell us how to setup google reader (or a tutorial link) in order to receive a alerte when a bloog is upadated ?

you can write me a personal email if you want

ps : sorry for my bad english i’m french

  32. Thanks for the list of “to-dos”… I’ve explored most of them at one time or another…. the Squidoo is one that I tapped a while back and need to revisit… getting traffic is always a challenge… but it’s part of the “game” of blogging…. Here’s to our mutual success.

  33. treb072410 says

I’ve been using some of this strategies for a couple of years now… It could really help a lot. I will try the ideas posted here which I haven’t tried yet… Thank you for this post…

  34. Andrew - the beats maker says

In regards to Yahoo! Answers, do you recommend putting your url in the answer if your site has more information pertaining to the question asked? Otherwise how would a visitor be able to visit your website? Thanks.

    • Joan Pounds says

@Andrew, when a reader reads your comment, they can then click on your avatar and it will automatically take them to your website provided that you filled in the website address in the area provided when you created your comment. Putting the URL in your comment is just redundant. Great Question!

  35. I didn’t know about all these ways to get traffic.I just knew about 3-4 of them so thanks a lot for the help!

  36. Josh - ProfitBlog.com says

    Great tips. Thanks. 🙂
Can anyone recommend some good resources or training for creating the facebook page? I’m working on setting up mine now and want to make sure I do it right and it looks good.

    -josh

  37. Joan Pounds says

I love the idea about Google reader. I use Networked Blogs to link my blog to Twitter and Facebook. My blog posts are automatically posted to social media sites as a result. I love it when the computers work for me!

  38. Nice post…i am seeing diff. in my alexa rankings!!! Kudos to you.

  39. Tapish Jain says

Thats a great post…each and every point was explained clearly…thanks for sharing!
I was looking forward for such a piece of information.

  40. Nice Post ! I learn a lot !

  41. Ryan @ Milwaukee Real Estate says

Nice, comprehensive, and doable list. It took me about three months with my first sites to reach 100 visitors a day on average. Once you achieve that the first time it’s easy to look back to see how it was done and replicate it with more sites. In most niches that I’ve entered I’ve had the best luck from an SEO standpoint doing guest posts with targeted anchor text. Also a great way to build relationships if you’re not spamming the site owners.

  42. Julia Gentry says

This is GREAT. Some are more simple concepts than others but all are very valuable to any entrepreneur who is trying to make their voice heard in this busy online world of ours!
    Thanks for sharing!

  43. Compras online says

Well, I really knew all those ways, but your post gave me incentive to put them into practice. Thanks.

  44. Good summary of promotion tactics.

I also like the idea of Ed Dale where he uses a bunch of Web 2.0 resources (WordPress, Tumblr, Blogger, LiveJournal etc.) which are all updated automatically with some content from Posterous, and each in turn link to your nuclear site.

  45. These are all great points and ideas…. the one thing I would mention is that where it is important to get your content/info out to many avenues for maximum exposure, at the same time, it is crucial to provide unique/fresh content… the world doesn’t need the same info repeated just to try to add links… if you write great content, visitors will come.

  46. What a great guide! I am going to try and do more article posting on one of those websites you listed but I just have not found the time. I just started my blog a few weeks ago and doing all of the things that you listed will bring visitors but you want to make sure you can keep them as well. Original content is very important to keep the readers. In a blog you need to not only increase traffic but also build returning readers.

    Thank you!!

  47. MoneyNinja says

Wow, yahoo answers was great. Less than an hour after answering a guy’s question on where to host his blog, he bought hosting through my affiliate link! It was gold!

Squidoo seemed like just another free blog site. Plus my type of stuff is considered a “junk category” these days so I had to word it carefully.

  48. Treb072410 says

    Great post!
A really good source of information… This post is a very useful tips for people who are just starting to learn what social media can do… Thanks for sharing this post…

  49. I don’t know why I can’t see 100 visitors a day although I am following your guidelines.

  50. Shobelyn Dayrit says

I am new to blogging and I want so badly to grow my visitors. I feel like I have done everything yet I am still in 100 or less a day number of visitor. I really do not know what else to do.

  51. theblogarticles says

That was helpful! But putting that in action is quite difficult..Btw I love what you write! You are such an inspiration.

I’ll definitely check out some of your suggestions. But I have to admit that I don’t like the “gamey” nature of facebook. They keep changing the settings. I don’t like that at all.

But with that said, your suggestions were great and I will implement. I get about 150 visits a day now….previously I was at about 300 per day until Google did the Google scramble and dropped me down a bit.

    Thanks again.

  56. BharatTutors says

I liked the yahoo q&a for backlinking purpose also.

Great Post. For yahoo answers we need to be careful. Only back links is not enough but the answers should be clear for the person who is asking the question.

These are all great points and ideas…. the one thing I would mention is that where it is important to get your content/info out to many avenues for maximum exposure, at the same time, it is crucial to provide unique/fresh content… the world doesn’t need the same info repeated just to try to add links… if you write great content, visitors will come.

I appreciate your recommendation for Squidoo (now Hub Pages) and your suggestions in #9. These are sites I had never been to before, and will definitely begin using them to spread the word. Thank you! -Joe

One great idea is to participate in online communities related to your industry. In many cases, this refers to online forums and other similar sites. The point isn’t to broadcast advertisements for your site; instead, you should simply put a link to your website in your signature or profile and then participate as a normal user. This can be a lot of fun and can help you make friends in your industry, and you could be surprised by how much traffic you can receive. Basically, people who enjoy your posts and think that you have a lot to offer will want to click on your link and find out more about your website, and these individuals may then share your link with their friends. You may also meet others who have websites in your same industry and who will be willing to do link shares and blog post shares, which can help you both get more traffic.
