Masterminding Your Way To Success
Hi Everyone,
Exciting Times!
I have been up to quite a lot recently. For example, I have traveled to the USA for Yanik Silver’s Mastermind meeting and to interview Gary Vaynerchuk. Additionally there has been some exciting developments here at IncomeDiary.com plus I attended the Entrepreneurs Bootcamp in London last weekend.
Firstly, as some of you know, I have been to the USA recently — there was two reasons for this;
1) Yanik Silvers Mastermind Group
As some of you know, my dad (Barry Dunlop) is a member of Yanik Silver’s Millionaire Mastermind group, and I was fortunate enough to go along as my Dads Guest to the latest Mastermind Meeting on the 21st and 22nd September.
There are many definitions of a Mastermind Group, but one that I like is:
A mastermind group is a group of people who come together to mutually assist each other in their pursuit of success
Getting a chance to spend 2 days in a closed door room with some of the coolest internet entrepreneurs on the planet is as you can imagine something very special. Also because of the closed door environment and the knowledge that what is spoken about remains within the room these entrepreneurs are very open with lots of sharing of information – in particular share what is working for them right now and also what is not working right now, or what they need help with.
I even got to present to the group and get their feedback on what I was doing – AWESOME!
At the presentation I mentioned that one of my sites ranked #9 in Google for search term: “Yanik Silver” – which is interesting as I haven’t even interviewed Yanik so far. (But watch out for a Yanik Silver Interview coming soon) It was quite funny, when I mentioned my ranking for “Yanik Silver” because then Carrie Wilkerson followed by Ryan Deiss mentioned how I rank first page for their own names also.
At the end of the Mastermind Yanik mentioned to me that he is considering doing a pre-day to his next Underground Online Seminar which will focus on young entrepreneurs and how he would like me to be involved. Now I know I have a lot of young readers, so I would like you guys (young or older) to suggest anything you would like to see in an event aimed at young entrepreneurs. In particular, suggestions for Speakers for Yanik Silvers potential Young Entrepreneurs Pre-Day are most appreciated.
Expect to hear me speaking more about this event in the near future.

2) Meeting Gary Vaynerchuck
After the mastermind, my dad and I went to New York to interview Gary Vaynerchuk for his soon to be launched book “Crush It” which comes out Tuesday (October 13, 2009). We met Gary at his NYC office and interviewed him on camera about business, blogging and passion which you guys can see on Monday. We came prepared with a great camera and recording equipment but when we heard Gary does everything on his flip camera we decided to just switch to that and it came out great! I am including a taster video from the interview here — but look out for the full interview on Monday.
When we arrived at Gary’s Office I spotted Carrie Wilkerson and Perry Laurence who were also there seeing Gary, so after I interviewed Gary we all met up for lunch at this New York sandwich shop nearby which was really good.

Also, here is a short Video from our interview — Gary talking about his two passions, Wine and The New York Jets
FULL INTERVIEW TO COME NEXT WEEK
New Releases Coming Soon
You may have noticed I haven’t been around so much, well I have been working on a few really cool things and today I’m going to give you a little taste of whats to come.
Rich List – Our most popular posts are always our lists so in the last month we have been working on a web application which is a list of the richest internet entrepreneurs and has a wiki style page on each one of them. Very cool stuff that I hope you all enjoy and help spread the word about.
Make Money Blogging Book – We spent a week turning my email eCourse into a PDF for those who wanted it all at once. At first we had planned to charge $47 for it as it did take some time and money but in the end we felt it was best to just give it away free so I could help even more people.
Forums – For a long time we have had major issues with the forums here on IncomeDiary, getting around 50 new spam bots register daily. Finally I sat down and did some reading and after 5 minutes made some small fixes that has cut it down to 2 or 3 a day which is hardly noticeable now. We really are looking to push the forums hard now so would love to see you guys join me on them!
Gary Vaynerchuck Interview – As mentioned above, I met Gary and interviewed him. We will be publishing his video, audio and transcription on Monday morning so look out for that and buy his book. We may even be giving away a Crush It wrist band or two
Entrepreneurs Bootcamp, London, 2nd and 3rd October 2009

I attend several seminars every year and I was pretty excited about attending Andrew Reynolds Entrepreneurs Bootcamp in London last weekend. You see my father has always credited attending a workshop Andrew organized featuring Bill Myers way back in 1999 – as one of the pivotal moments in his own online career.
The event was at the O2 arena in London which was the Millennium Dome back in the day and it is a very big place, with something like 7000 entrepreneurs attending. By far the biggest event I have gone to.
Now for those of you who are not aware, most seminars these days (especially the low priced or FREE variety) are what I would call ‘Pitch Fests’ — basically speakers pitching (selling) their products from the stage.
This Entrepreneurs Bootcamp was relatively inexpensive (and indeed the cost of the ticket was donated to the Make a Wish foundation) — so I was not surprised to discover most speakers selling something. Nothing wrong with that of course – but I did wonder about some of the speakers products – and the value in them. One speaker in particular was speaking about his product and was saying how he had this revolutionary way of making money that he came up with — but when he went into it in a bit more detail, he was basically describing what I was doing.
Of course there was some great speakers and some good worthwhile products — but for me at least, some where being “Over Hyped”.
FOWA (Future of Web Apps) after-party
Also, when I was in London I got to attend the FOWA (Future of Web Apps) after-party. (Gary Vaynerchuk was at this event last weekend – but not the party). At the party I also got to meet up with Grant Bell who ran the young entrepreneur event that I spoke at a few months back and I also to meet up with Josh Buckley who I first interviewed nearly 2 years ago when he sold his business at 15 for around $100,000 I believe. The FOWA (Future of Web Apps) after-party was a very good laugh. It was basically 300 or so programmers in a night club all speaking geek and drinking alcohol. (Try imagining that!)
All in all a very busy 2 / 3 weeks – learned a lot and had fun as well – my favorite combination.
To Our Success,
Michael Dunlop
PS: Really going to be working hard on promoting my rich list application so any help you guys can give me will be really appreciated!
PPS: Suggestions for Speakers for Yanik Silvers potential Young Entrepreneurs Pre-Day are most appreciated — plus I am always looking to interview Young Entrepreneurs

I also went to the o2 bootcamp. To be thruthfull it was a long two day event 9 to 9 at night and the selling reminded me of timeshare sellers, Brett Mcfall seemed a good guy but not sure what else he could of gave away, he over killed his speech. Saying that saw loads of gold cards being flashed at the desk, and they needed to be gold cards, there were very expensive courses, and the old cheshnut that they only had 15 minutes to buy. The sad fact is loads of people had been to these things before bought courses, put them on shelf as they didnt work because they wre looking for holy grail, and come back again and bought more. Saying that I dont think I actually got too many nuggest of info from the day and half i was there. On a other note it was the first every event i went to, I am reluctant to go to any other seminars now if thats is what you get every time? Michael, you been on loads do other seminars do they give u nuggets worth using or is it the same old same where they stop short untill you buy there course. I left early second day, while winning the bentley would of been nice, i lost will to live in end, arse was killing with the seats and in end i give up, and set off back up to Manchester. Kevin

Hello Kevin, It all depends on how much the event is usually -or example Yanik Silver has one of the best events out there but it's quite expensive, but it is well worth it. Then I have been to a few that have been real cheap and they have been terrible, having said that I went to Ryan Lee's event and although I didn't pay (tickets were $50 - $300) - it was one of the best events I have been to. Shame I wasn't able to catch you at the event Kevin. Michael

Hi Michael, Good to catch with your travels, etc. I was planning on coming to the London O2 event, but could nto make it. Why is the Yannick event so good? The price was way out of my reach. The "rich list?" what is that? Kerwin.

Hi Michael I was at the Entrepreneurs Bootcamp with my husband. It was the first time that I had attended such an event and it was a tiring couple of days, but we did get some useful information from it. I agree that after the first couple of sales pitches we got extremely bored by the long list of course details and especially all the bonuses followed by "It's valued at $x but I'm not going to give it you for that..." It would be nice to be credited with some common sense. We did buy a couple of things from the bootcamp and since we came back we have been working hard on what we have bought. It's no good if it just sits on the shelf, so if it hasn't worked by the end of the 30day guarantee period we shall be asking for our money back. Overall I would say that I enjoyed the weekend, though I think the days were too long & could have been shorted by less pitching. I intend sending an email to Andrew Reynolds with my views. However the one thing that had the most effect on me was being given a flower hand made from reused tin cans, by a man called Golden in a shanty town in South Africa. Andrew had given him a large order and he presented a flower to every woman in the audience. This made me think that if someone in difficult circumstances can use what he does have and his own hard work to provide for his family, then I can certainly do the same for mine. We all take different things from the same event because we are individuals. Yes, there were some annoying things about the weekend, but if you haven't been to one before, then I would say that it is worth going to so that you can make up your own mind. Will I go next time? I don't know yet, but I certainly intend being in a very different place with our business and financial lives than we are at the moment. It is up to each one of us to take the positive steps forward. Hilary

Michael Great post - you really have got to some good stuff in the past few weeks!! I went to the Bootcamp (and have written summary posts on my blog) and found that there were quite a few useful tips and tricks to take away and implement but much was geared towards purchasing the programs. I had been before and was aware that it was a bit of a pitch fest so ensured I was set in my mission not to buy anything! I would love to get into Yanik's Mastermind group, you must have got some great nuggets from there! Just need a bit more success and to build a solid foundation before I start diversifying and expanding my business. All the best Tom
