50 Most Influential People In Blogging 2010

By:     Topics: Blogging     More posts about:

Well, it’s that time of year again, the leaves are starting to fall, the weather is getting colder and the days are becoming shorter, guess that means it’s time for the annual “Top 50 Influential Bloggers of 2010” then.

It’s great to see how many young bloggers are starting to come through the ranks now, and they’re not too shabby either. I must admit I do enjoy seeing the success of the younger bloggers a little more than the veterans, purely because they are coming from the same place I did those 4 years ago.

However, the more seasoned bloggers, give you the inspiration and the motivation to achieve not only what they have already but possibly become even bigger and better than they are. That however is not an easy task!

Then there are the veteran bloggers the die-hard big boys (and girls) that just never seem to stop and never seem to drop their continuous stream of brilliantly written content. The blogging community is thriving as always and I think it may only be the start.

Do you want to be on the list next year?

Try my FREE Blogging eCourse out!

Historical Note: Even though this post was written a good number of years ago, it’s still a post that deserves your time. As our friend James Schramko recently pointed out on Facebook, some of these individuals have gone on to even greater accomplishments. Well done, every one of them! (note added 9th April 2022)

On top of all of this she also blogs about how to make your own blog look better and how to blog better, or should we say, blog properly. Why has Rob Rammuny made the list

Rob Rammuny wants to help you to have the online lifestyle that you crave. He needs to teach, advise and share with his fellow bloggers and readers alike. Did I mention he is only 16 years old? That correct 16yrs! It’s so fresh and inspiring to see someone with such talent and diversity create such a fantastic blog with great content and advice especially at such a tender young age. I can see big things ahead for Rob. His main aim is to get out of the rat-race and leave the 9-5 lifestyle before he even has to join it, and I’d have to agree that it’s definitely the right choice. Why work for others when you are perfectly good at working for yourself? I really hope Rob keeps up his terrific work and I look forward to what he does in the future.

#50 Chris Guthrie

Why has Chris Guthrie made the list?

Chris Guthrie earns a six figure income from working online. He’s only 26yrs old and already he is a big name in the blogging world. He first started working for his own business back in school, trading pokemon cards for money, this early lesson in business eventually got the better of him and he decided working for an employer just wasn’t going to cut it. He eventually ended up as an online marketer after “playing too much Halo 2”. How many people can boast that playing a video game could lead them to a career of such magnitude? Well it wasn’t entirely Halo 2 that helped him, getting fired must have been a factor too, but nonetheless, with monthly incomes of $13,000 and more a month, he must be doing something right.

This is a fantastic list of inspiring people. you missed out a few but its cool…these people deserve to be there and they are very much needed in todays society. These people are the leaders, thank you for pointing them out to us.

Anybody can become successful, the hard part is sustaining that success. The old bloggers here have done just that – they have sustained their success and are constantly building upon the last success.

Gary Vaynerchuk was the guy that opened my world up to blogging and if it wasnt for him I dont think I would have found your blog Michael! So these people are doing a great job – leading the way for the action takers out there to fill in their footsteps.

  2. An honour to make the list again though I haven’t been as active as previous years.

The good news is I have some new SEO and marketing content that will roll out over the next few weeks that will be shaking a few branches.

    • Hey Andy..

I always look forward to your content, definitely would like to see more from you in the coming months.

      Michael

  3. James Dyson says

Great list Michael, good to see some familiar faces in there, as well as some new ones too!

Totally agree with Collis being top this year, the envato network really has exploded, i remember when it started with just PSDtuts!

    Awesome List Michael,

The above are really great bloggers who know their stuff and I can vouch for Pat and Glen and Corbett’s work, those guys give the best content.

Thanks so much for compiling the great list,
    -Onibalusi

  5. Interesting list.

There are a bunch of names I’m familiar with – some I’m not so familiar with. Just subscribed to a couple of people I’m not familiar with, so thanks for that.

My favourites from your list? Gary V, Chris G and Pat Flynn. All deliver outstanding value over time.

    Cheers.

  6. It’s a privilege to meet Matthew Mullenweg. He is such a down to earth person despite of his great stature.

    Wonderful compilation, Michael. Good job!

  7. Great list Micheal! Those young G’s are really trying! thanks for sharing and keep up the good work.

  8. Robb Sutton says

Great list! Thanks for including me again in 2010. It is an honor to be listed among names like that in the industry. It’s cool to see some new faces as well. 2010 has been a great year for blogging.

  9. Lee | Money4Invest says

I think you missed out your own name in the list, Michael. You deserve to be in the top 50 top bloggers of the year as well. Thanks for providing this great list that beneficial to all new bloggers. Great job.

  10. Hi Micheal,
    Wonderful list.

Its been a great research work.

  11. Richard Entwistle says

Great resource Michael, thanks. I am familiar with only a handful here, as not that much free time to spend reading blogs anyway. Have to work! BUT, now I know where I will not be wasting time when I need some new insights. Repeat – Great job.

  12. Stuart Wooster says

    Great list!

As Lee says, if it was another person than yourself writing the list I’m sure you would be included.

I also enjoy reading a Frank Kern’s blog (no BS with profanity added in for good measure).

    • Hey Stuart..

Thanks man, I like to lead the way 😀 I also like Frank’s stuff.

Let me know if you want to come round sometime for a brain storm.

      Michael

  13. Hi Michael.

Really great and informative list. Most of these I keep track on there. There was some here I needed to add to my list.

I wrote and list earlier this year ‘Social Media Bloggers To Watch’ that reached Darren Rowse blog. There is a lot of great niche bloggers that not always reach the lists but really do an awesome job. Will work a on list within my niche for great bloggers to watch in 2011.

Getting ready here for Blog Expo 2011. So hope to meet some of the people on the list here.

    Cheers.. Are

    • Hey Are,

Great to hear your doing a list of your own, I love them!

Let me know how you get on at Blog Expo 😉

      Michael

  14. What a great list of bloggers who are leading the way for the industry. Makes a fine list of people to follow as each has demonstrated in their own way, how to contribute to the craft of blogging in a significant and positive way.

I am preparing to fly out to #BWE10 and hope to meet some of these individuals.

    Thanks for the post, Michael!

  15. Rob Rammuny says

Thanks for including me on your list Michael, glad to be here. Ton’s of other great bloggers as well that I see on here!

    Congratulations to all.

  16. Great list Micheal, what about john chow?

  17. John Paul Aguiar says

Great List Michael… I follow most these bloggers, and I agree they are all awesome, have learned something from each.

  18. This is a very inspiring list of very successful bloggers. I think the most important thing here is to learn from these people because most of them also started just like most of us ordinarily. With the power of Web 2.0, everything is now within our reach…

I am happy reading this post…the more I browse the more I am energized…

    We can do it…

  19. What a list you have here…going through the list I just realized that at one point I already encountered some of them in the internet especially Yaro Starak.

Very nice to read…see you next year for the 2011 top 50…

  20. I discovered Pat Flynn a few days ago and I have to say that he is a fantastic online entrepreneur.I am glad that I found his blog and its full of excellent information and experiences.

  21. Hi Michael,

Thank You for great list of great people.
Found new faces to follow them 🙂

  22. SuperbadIM says

Forget about modesty. Put yourself on that list! You have a lot of great content and no one can deny that you are making things happen.

  23. Marian Schembari says

Great list, but I’m not sure about the order.

Plus, don’t hate me, but why are there only SEVEN women on this list? Not including James Chartrand. I’m sorry, but I’m a little sick of women being left out of this little mix, especially when it comes to blogs about blogging. What about Laura Roeder? Naomi Dunford? Danielle Laporte? There are plenty of women in blogging who ROCK at what they do. It’s ridiculous they so frequently get left out.

    • Hello Marian,

I can’t just add women to the list to make it an even split, that would make the list pointless. Your suggestions all have cool blogs, however they are not big in influencing other bloggers compared to the names above. Even if I added the 3 people you recommended, that would still only bring it to 10 women.

I would love to see more female bloggers, there are some really good ones out there, however right now it seems to be dominated by at least 80% guys in our industry and until that changes, there will be less women in these types of lists.

      Thanks,

      Michael

      • Leon Aldrich says

        @Marian

I have posted before that Michael is a work in progress. What I have seen – is he is a HUGE action taker who cares about his readers. He makes mistakes. Don’t we all? But I have yet to see him do anything out of ill-will or spite or purposely sexist (evil grin).

I am also a big fan of Laura’s and Naomi’s. Now if we can just get Michael to hire Jillian McCoy to be Income Diary’s editor?

    • Michael LaRocca says

My favorite blogger is Penelope Trunk.

  24. TXCHLInstructor says

While I enjoyed the list (and even recognized a few names), I found myself wishing for a bit more detail in the descriptions. I don’t really have time to follow everyone on the list, and I didn’t really even want to spend the time this morning looking at all of the blogs to see which were the most interesting to me.

What I would have preferred to see: A titled list. For instance, for Lynn Terry (one of the ones I already follow in Google Reader:

How Long Blogging: (I don’t really know, but I was a member of her forum more than 6 years ago)
Title of last Blog Post: How Specific Are Your Goals?
    Main Niche: Affiliate Marketing
    Other online presence: SelfStartersWeeklyTips.com
    Books authored: Fast Cash Strategy
Why she made this list: (your explanation per above)

In other words, I want a short, easy-to-read synopsis of what the blogger has done so that I can quickly determine if the blogger is covering topics that interest me.

BTW, I showed a (single bachelor) co-worker a video Lynn made, and his reaction was, “Whatever she’s selling, I want one! Is she single?” So it probably doesn’t hurt any that she is a very attractive young woman.

  25. Eleazar | Entrepinoy Bank says

These 50 top bloggers are worth emulating. I am a subscriber of some of these great bloggers and will son follow these new names I learn now.

  26. Lennex Zinyando says

    Hie Michael

This list is impressive and I like it to the bone, I am in Zimbabwe, I just started blogging last month and I hope that in the years to come I will make it on your list. I enjoy your blog man, keep it up.

    Cheers

  27. TrafficColeman says

Boy I’m still not on this list Micheal, that’s ok because I really been getting myself out there lately. I have interview an couple of people on this list and they deserve to be there.

Look my site is as I want it, and people will know who I am in due time before I finish..but just like the old saying say..

Good things comes to those who wait..God Bless Micheal…
